Writing skills have drastically fallen. This is especially true in Asia. Nowadays, if people are asked how well them know a language, “Reading” and “Writing” skills are completely separated and often disproportionate. Taking that one step further, without practice, motor skills dull, and handwriting skills suffer. But no longer! ^_^ Today marks the release of a new title on the DS. Produced by Sega, it’s a Character Training tool that comes with a specific stylus.

It’s more or less software which teaches people how to write characters so that their handwritten characters are more aesthetically pleasing. Basically, it isolates which characters you have problems with and then drills you on how to write them in a more eye pleasing manner.

I’ve seem a program similar to U-can but geared towards teaching the skill of chinese brush writing. Again, a special stylus is included. But the concept is the same, which is nice. It’s always rewarding to realize that you can write nicely.
